How to play the penalty shootout game
Pick your team and the difficulty, then tap “Start shootout”. A coin toss decides who shoots first, and the two teams alternate kicks: 5 each. If one team can no longer catch up, the shootout ends early; if it is tied at the end, sudden death follows, one kick each until someone misses and the other scores.
On your kick, drag your finger (or the mouse) from the ball to the point of the goal where you want to shoot, or use the arrow keys. When you let go, the power bar starts rising and falling: tap again or press Space to shoot. Stopping in the green zone gives a firm, accurate kick; too much power can send the ball over the bar, and a weak kick is easy for the keeper.
When you defend, you are the goalkeeper. Tap the corner of the goal where you want to dive, use the direction buttons or the keyboard arrows (hold ↑ together with ← or → to dive at an angle). Your reaction time is short: you can bet on a side as the shooter runs up, or wait for the kick, but whoever dives late sees the ball go in. On Easy, a yellow arrow shows which way the shooter is going.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best corner to aim for?
The high corners are the hardest for the keeper to reach, but the margin for error is small: the ball can hit the crossbar or sail too high. A low shot into the corner, with power in the green zone, is the safest kick.
How does sudden death work?
If the 5 kicks each end tied, each team takes one more kick in turn. Whoever scores while the opponent misses wins the shootout right away.
What changes with difficulty?
On Hard the computer keeper guesses the side more often and reaches farther, the power bar moves faster and the opposing shooter kicks harder and misses less. Your wins are saved in this browser.
