Queens Game Online
The queens puzzle everyone is hooked on: place one queen in every row, every column and every colored region, without any two queens touching. Each board is generated on the spot and has exactly one solution.
How to play Queens
The board has as many colored regions as rows. Place exactly one queen in each row, one in each column and one in each color region.
Two queens can never touch, not even diagonally: the 8 cells around a queen are off limits. Queens that clash are highlighted in red.
Tap a cell once to mark an X (no queen here) and twice to place a queen. Drag across cells to mark several Xs at once. Check shows mistakes and Hint puts a queen in the right spot.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Queens strategy?
Start with small regions: if a color sits in a single row or column, its queen is there and the rest of that line can be crossed out. Then look for two or three colors squeezed into the same rows or columns.
Do I ever need to guess?
No. Every board here is checked by a solver and has a single solution, so there is always a logical deduction for the next move.
How is it different from the classic eight queens problem?
In the classic chess puzzle queens may not share any diagonal. In Queens the diagonal rule only applies to neighbouring cells, and the color regions are added instead, which gives every board one unique answer.
