The number of characters is the length of the answer, so a pattern with five characters searches five-letter words. Use between 5 and 9 characters.

Frequently asked questions
Can I search for a word with a length but no known letters?
Yes. Type only question marks, one for each square. For a 6-letter answer, type ??????.
Why does my answer not appear?
The helper uses a curated subset of common English words with 5 to 9 letters. Shorter answers, names and rare words are not in the list, so a missing answer does not mean it is wrong.
Is the helper free?
Yes. It is free to use, and the search runs in your browser without sending what you type to a server.
