How to play Guess Who

At the start, each side gets a secret character drawn from the 24 on the board. Yours shows in the corner of the screen; the computer’s stays hidden. The goal is to find out who it picked before it finds out yours.

On your turn, choose a question from the menu, such as “Wears glasses?” or “Has red hair?”. After the answer, tap the characters that don’t match to flip their cards down (or turn on automatic flipping) and pass the turn. The computer then asks its own question, and its answer comes out automatically, based on your character.

When you think you know who it is, tap “Make a guess” and choose the character instead of asking a question. Right, and you win; wrong, and you lose on the spot. The best tactic is to ask questions that split the remaining faces roughly in half.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the Guess Who? board game?

No. Guess Who is an original game with characters drawn by us, inspired by the classic board games of guessing faces through yes-or-no questions. It has no connection to brands such as Guess Who?.

What is the best question to ask?

One that splits the characters still standing into two similar groups. If 12 are left and you ask about something only 1 of them has, you will almost always eliminate just 1. Asking about something half of them have eliminates 6 at once, whichever the answer is.

Does the computer cheat?

No. It only uses the answers to the questions it asked. On the hard level, it always picks the question that best splits the remaining candidates; on the easy level, it asks anything useful.
