How to play snooker online
The table starts with 15 reds in the triangle and 6 colors on their spots: yellow (2 points), green (3), brown (4), blue (5), pink (6) and black (7). At the start, the cue ball is held inside the “D”, the semicircle on the left side. Every shot must hit the object ball first.
While reds remain, you pot a red (1 point) and then any color; the color goes back on its spot and you try for another red. Miss, and your turn ends. When the reds are gone, the colors are potted in order, from yellow to black, and do not return. Aim by dragging on the table, set the power on the bar and tap “Shoot”, or pull the cue straight back from the cue ball.
A foul gives points to the opponent: at least 4, or the value of the ball involved, up to 7. Fouls include hitting nothing, hitting the wrong ball first, potting the wrong ball or pocketing the cue ball (then the opponent plays with the cue ball in the D). The frame ends when the black is potted at the end or when only the black is left and the gap is more than 7 points. The player with more points wins.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between snooker and pool?
Snooker uses a much bigger table, narrower pockets and 22 balls, with points for each color. In 8-ball pool, each player has a group of balls and whoever pockets the 8 first wins.
What is a break in snooker?
It is the total of points you score in a row without missing. The scoreboard shows your highest break in the frame. The classic maximum break is 147: all 15 reds each followed by a black, and then all the colors.
Which rules were simplified?
To keep the game fast, there is no “free ball” and no “miss” rule (replaying the shot after a foul). After a red, the color is chosen by the first ball the cue ball hits. The rest follows official snooker.
