Clock Solitaire
Clock Solitaire right in your browser: the cards form a clock face and each tap sends a card to its hour. Will the last King come up last?
How to play Clock Solitaire
The 52 cards are split into 13 face-down piles of 4: 12 in a circle, like the hours on a clock, and one in the center. Each hour has its own rank: Ace is 1 o’clock, 2 is 2 o’clock… Jack is 11, Queen is 12 and the Kings go in the center.
The game starts by flipping the top card of the center pile, which shows up next to it. Tap any card to keep going: the flipped card moves to the pile for its hour, and the next face-down card from that pile gets flipped. So a 5 goes to 5 o’clock and the next card comes from the 5 o’clock pile.
You win if all 52 cards end up face up, each one on its own hour. If the fourth King appears while there are still face-down cards, the game is over and you lose.
Frequently asked questions
Is there any strategy in Clock Solitaire?
No. Once the cards are dealt, the outcome is already set: there are no choices to make, you just flip cards. It’s a pure-luck solitaire, great for unwinding or for telling your fortune.
What are the odds of winning Clock Solitaire?
Exactly 1 in 13, or about 7.7%. You only win if the fourth King is the very last card flipped, and each of the 13 ranks has the same chance of landing in that spot.
Why does the game end on the fourth King?
Kings go to the center, and the next card always comes from the center pile. When the fourth King shows up, the center has no face-down cards left, so there’s no way to continue.
